Laminex

Formica Round or Square Edge Benchtop
Formica was invented in the United States in 1913 as a replacement for the electrical insulating material, mica. Which was the reason for  the name, “for mica”.  From 1927 Formica became increasingly popular as a decorative material as the process of printing images on the laminate surface was introduced.  In the 1930's a melamine layer was added, giving Formica its renowned durability and practical finish.   Formica continued to gain popularity through the art deco and post WW2 periods as people sought an attractive, hard wearing, easy to clean finish.  Today, Formica remains the choice of people creating practical, enjoyable home environments and architects and designers looking for modern, minimalist interiors.  Available in dozens of colours.
